What We Do
A Novel Adaptation is a podcast about books and what it takes to make a screen adaptation that not only stays true to the text but takes it to the next level. There are plenty of good tv or movie adaptations, but what makes one great? Your co-hosts, Jordan and Emily, aren’t sure either. But we invite you to join them on our search to find out what it takes to create an exemplary book-to-screen story. Who We Are
I’m a freelance writer based out of Seattle, living with my cat Ophelia. When I was in middle school, I spent more time reading than was probably wise, but why would I pay attention to the real world when there were so many magical ones to explore? That love of stories has stayed with me for all my life, as exemplified by ever-growing collection of novels. Later in life, I got sucked into the pop culture vortex that is The Internet and spent more time streaming tv shows with cult followings than reading books. Tell me your favorite tv show and I could probably guess your age. And when it comes to pop culture and literature, all I want to know is: will it blend?
I’m a project manager in Detroit, living with my husband and our two cats Stella and Arwen. I’ve had my nose stuck in a book since I was in elementary school but my parents tell me I used to take my picture books off the shelf as a baby and babel my own made up stories to myself. Books have been the backdrop to my entire life but my real love is the stage; specifically musicals. Every year during awards season, my hubby and I have a little viewing party for each the Oscars, Tonys, and Emmys and prep by seeing as much of the content as we can ahead of time to make informed guesses about who’s going to win. Not to brag, but I win every year.

A Novel Adaptation is a podcast analyzing book to movie adaptations in a tipsy humorous light. Starting June 11th, 2018, the podcast will be released on a bi-weekly basis and each episode includes a literary libation along with a fun game to play along.
